Ken Lasaine
Guitar and Band Leader
"Teaching keeps me honest. I have to constantly remind myself that in
general, my students don't inherently know the things that I learned
25 years ago. It forces me to be clear, concise and thorough when I
explain a concept - and, by default, I review things for myself that
I have otherwise long forgotten. I was also very lucky in that I had
excellent teachers in my formative years. I feel I owe it to the next
generation to pass on what was so generously made available to me.
And, last but not least - it's a little selfish - I want to insure
that there's someone out there making good music for ME to buy and
listen to when I'm retired."
Join the Band hires only the most proficient musicians and teachers. Studio and performance ace Ken Lasaine exemplifies that standard. You only have to sit in on one of his classes to see that he has great passion for his music and wants his students to "get it". It is also common to catch him after class talking with students about his gig experiences and the artists he's seen over the years.
His influences run the gamut from Jeff Beck, Grant Green, Ted Greene, Beatles, Steely Dan, Weather Report, Deep Purple, George Orwell, Allman Brothers...you get the idea...He is a very versatile musician.
Ken's recording and performance experience (like his influences) includes many diverse acts such as, Rikki Lee Jones, Backstreet Boys, No doubt, Bo Diddley, Glenn Branca, Sym#13 L.A. at Disney Hall, and more.
Film and TV credits include Felicity, Tonight Show with Leno, Charlie's Angeles, Ray Justice, Martin Short Show, KCRW and many more.
We are very fortunate to such a great player and teacher at Join the Band.
